Today I was thinking of God’s umbrella of protection and how it is our place of peace. As long as we abide in him “under his umbrella,” we are content, safe, and at peace, and nothing is derailed or altered when we are communing and doing life with those who are also in that spirit of abiding in Christ. The believers who are also focused on investing their lives in service of God’s Kingdom thrive with peaceful and productive lives, which shines brightly contrasted to those who are spending their days scurrying and competing to create their own kingdoms or stunted and unimpactful due to fear and despair.
One day, those who have chosen to listen to Jesus instead of the world will have a much larger “umbrella” of safety, order and peace, called New Jerusalem. At approximately 1500 miles cubed, God will take delight in all of its inhabitants, and we will take delight in him and all of our brothers and sisters there.
News sources and Satan’s minions want us to feel as if we are never safe, even as born-again believers, but the Enemy has no authority over those who choose to seek the shelter of their Lord Almighty. Listen to Jesus’s voice rather than the chaos stirring of the Enemy’s voice being delivered through people who choose to love the world instead of their Creator.
John 14:26-27 NASB2020 – [26] But the Helper, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and remind you of all that I said to you. [27] Peace I leave you, My peace I give you; not as the world gives, do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, nor fearful.
When the heat rises and the storms rage, choosing to take shelter under the Lord’s umbrella is a life-saving choice, but staying there with him every day is an eternal soul-saving choice. This temporary life is a gift, and what you do with it is your choice!
