Living on only M&M’s isn’t enough, you’re going to need real food to survive to the end.

HEY, CHURCH!!! Do you realize that you can’t live on M&M’s?

Walking into a church sanctuary to attend mass or worship service doesn’t fill you with a nourishing, healthy meal, but you should leave there with having received at least a snack.

Attending many different churches regularly now, I have sensed in my spirit how different churches provide varying amounts of sweet treats for my soul. Some churches give me one or two peanut M&M’s worth of God’s Word, some provide me with more M&M’s through Holy Spirit-filled worship time, and some fill me with even more through hugs and fellowship with others.

Some churches feel to me that they are more like a drive-through, with the pastor or priest disconnected from the congregation, handing out small paper cups with a couple of M&M’s that are “blessed” because they came with a recited blessing. When I glance into the cup, I can see that they don’t even have peanuts in them to keep me full. They’re simply blessed by someone who went to seminary so they are a special color, but they’re still plain M&M’s. (SIDENOTE: They kind of remind me of a box of Presidential M&M’s that I saw once. They had a fancy box and unique candy shell color, but they were still just plain M&M’s.) Anyway, those kind of churches sometimes give out additional M&M’s just because of the hugs and fellowship time in the lobby and often have the most people there. You’ll probably get a free coffee, too, but you’ll still leave there pretty hungry.

The best churches are the kind that fill you up, with plenty of time for fellowship and hugs, Holy Spirit-filled worship and praise that makes you cry in awe of God’s glory, and a powerful message straight from scripture given by a pastor who is willing to walk through the trenches with you. To have a church like that is what every Christian needs to support them in their faith journey!! (Shout out to my THREE fam and Pastor Pete for being that place for me!)

It’s hard to say this, but Jesus tells me that it is important that Christians TRULY know this: Even a church like that (the best of the best) can only fill you with the equivalent of an overflowing cup of peanut M&M’s, along with a free pass to refill it any day of the week by reaching out to church family members, church leaders, or the pastor.

And it is good, it is really good, BUT…

Since none of us can live on M&M’s alone, we NEED to know where to find actual food. I have tasted it and seen it!!! Your meal has already been paid for and this buffet table NEVER runs out of food and drinks. Jesus is standing at the door, ready to greet everyone who wants to enter there… “Come and eat,” he says. “Find rest here.”

So that you can map your way to go whenever you have decided that you simply need MORE IN THIS LIFE and know that you will be fed an amazing meal every single day of your life, I will share the name of the restaurant that contains this buffet table with you. The name of the place to go is The Holy Bible. It’s family-owned, and the owners love blessing people with free investment shares in the restaurant whenever they want to, so go often! And just so you know, they even have M&M’s… lots of them!
